How to burn a polygon into a DEM

Hello, I am trying to burn a river into a DEM for a watershed delineation using archydro. This river is represented by a polygon however, not a linear feature. Is there a way to do this? I am using arcgis 10.0 with 3d analyst and spatial analyst extensions.
